Of cause, here just some of our local customs and traditions, since China as a multinational country, everywhere have their own traditions in wedding.
1. Bride and bridegroom can't meet each other at the day before wedding, since the elders think that the new couple will have a happly life if they follow this traditions.
2. The bridegroom need to give LaiSee (red packets with money ) to "gatekeepers" for allowing into bride's house when he pick up the bride. In china , most weddings are not in church. It usually in the bridegroom' s home. So the bridegroom pick up the bride from the girl's home is a tradition in our local wedding.
3. The bride's parents will not go together with the bride to bridegroom's home in wedding day. Why parents not attending their daughter's wedding that will be hold in bridegroom's home? That is because in previous, a girl married to a guy, it means she join in her husband's family, and become a guest to her parents. It is a sad thing. So the parents not attending the wedding. Of cause, this is theory not here any more. But this traditions still be followed in our hometown.
